Multiamory Minute 08: Hierarchy

Jase from Multiamory.com attempts to explain topics and answer questions about polyamory in just 60 seconds.

Today's topic: Hierarchy

In polyamory, some people choose to designate someone as their "primary" partner and other people as their "secondary" partners. Most people do this to try and feel safe in their relationships but it can also be a very harmful thing. If these labels are used to describe your relationships it can be helpful (descriptive hierarchy) but when hierarchy is used to control your relationships (prescriptive hierarchy) it can be very destructive in the long run.
